I only have the one input on the TV, besides that, when my son comes over, he rearranges all my wiring to set up his PS3 station. I was even having trouble with black lines and waves on my TV before I put the HDMI setup together. I really like the setup.
Now he can come over and just hook up to one of the ports.

I must be one of the first Canadian buying this video scaler. This was definately a great buying. I bought this one not because I had seen any publicity of it. I had a specific need for a device that would make the bridge between HD TV technology and non-HD streaming, such as my Nintendo Wii console, my non-HD channels with my numeric decoder and with my DVD player. All of those would display in 480i or p and this was quiet ugly on my 42" full-HD TV. So I bought this video scaler as a big guess (seeing no customer or professionnal reviews). The specifications of the device were what I needed and that's what I got. The result is impressive. All of these media now display in 1080i which after some testings was the best rendering resolution for my LG HDTV. My Wii console is plugged in the component connector, my TV decoder in the HDMI in connector and my DVD player in the s-video connector. I only have to switch from one to another directly from the video scaler and the HDMI out cable sends the signal to my HDTV. The scaling is quiet awesome. It processes a 480i streaming of my normal channels (which where nasty looking on a HDTV without my video scaler) and I get a near HD quality in 1080i resolution. We still have a lot of good channels that are not HD in Canada. The funny thing too is that sometimes, in my HD movie channel Super Ecran, the movie that I watch is not a true HD movie but a mere conversion, and this is a so so conversion quality. I then switch to the normal non-HD channel upscaled to 1080i and the result for this precise case is a better rendering! The last thing I could say about video scaling with this device is my Wii console would not worth it on my HDTV because in a big HD screen alone it displays very poor 480p graphics. I say too that the sound is good.
Overall, I recommend this video scaler as it unlocks a lot of possibilities your HDTV cannot give alone. | Atlona Video Scaler with HDMI output
