New Firmware Update for the AT-HDAiR

When working with the HDMI, you may notice, that the connection is not working properly, the complains could be:

    1. no sound is coming out of the HDMI
    2. no video is coming out of the HDMI
    3. wrong, or not natural colors
    4. screen is flickering, going up and down.
    5. issues with some resolutions and some work just fine.

It is important first to make sure that the installation went through successfully, for example that the audio is enabled at the PC side, just to make sure that there is no human error, when it seems that the installation is not the issue, it could be that the HDMI part of the video base is the problem.
Not a H/W problem or a production problem (therefore replacing the unit will not help) but rather a configuration issue.

There are so many types of TV manufacturers and HDMI vendors and nothing is the same, therefore we are working on finding a solution that will fit them all, but it will take a while longer.
We are offering a patch that we found to fix almost all of the issues we have found so far.

The way to use the patch is:

    1. download it from: http://atlona.com/hdair_drivers/AV_Firmware_Upgrade_v.0.52.0.30.exe
file should be used in case you notice any issues that are related to colors and resolutions. (not over scanning).
If there is no issues with supported resolutions and colors, there is no need to update the AV F/W.
    2. save it onto the computer
    3. have an active WUSB link, have the everything connected, PC adapter, and AV base (WUSB icon is green and DL’s icon is on)
    4. double click on the file (AV_Firmware_Upgrade_v.0.52.0.30.exe), it will upgrade the HDMI chip configuration wirelessly
    5. A command window would open and the upgrade would start. The process should take around one minute to complete. No action is needed during the update.
*** In case of any error in the process, you can run the utility again.

Wireless USB adapter for PC to monitor/HDTV display

There is life in the UWB/Wireless USB market yet! Atlona Technologies, which makes connectivity solution-based AV products, and Wisair, one of the remaining UWB/Wireless USB chip companies, have announced the availability of a Wireless USB display adapter set that wirelessly transfers PC content to TVs, monitors and projectors. Users can view video, Internet content and pictures from their computer on monitors and HDTV displays without the hassle of extra cables.

The Wireless USB Adapter Set features VGA and HDMI outputs with the ability of both outputs being active simultaneously. It supports up to 1400x1050 screen resolution, provides a wireless range of up to 30 feet (in the same room), and is a fullystandard USB-IF certified solution.

Christopher Bundy, Atlona’s director of marketing, noted "We've been seeing strong customer demand to be able to view PC content on displays and projectors without any video cables, so we are very excited about the potential of this new offering. We have examined several technological solutions, and Wisairs' undoubtedly provided the best range and performance at the most attractive price point."

The set is expected to be available in US retail stores in May at an MSRP of US$199.

The two companies described that price as ‘affordable’. Err ...... to some, maybe, but still not pocket money. Still, it’s good that this kit is getting out there, and as volumes build, then prices should come down.

Hope so – this kit would get a lot of use in this house.
